Cleopatra's Needle in New York is an Egyptian obelisk; it was sent as a gift to Central Park in 1881; it’s made of granite, is 69 feet high and is inscribed with Egyptian hieroglyphs; it was originally built in Heliopolis by order of Thutmose III in 1475 BC; it took four months to get the obelisk on rollers from a barge on the Hudson River to the park; there is another one like it in London on the Victoria Embankment and another in Paris at the Place de la Concorde
