Forest Park was created by the last ice age. Today it has several square miles of virgin forest with some recreation facilities
The park is managed from offices at The Overlook

Park has had this Muller brothers carousel since 1903
Carousels or merry-go-rounds were inspired by medeviel jousting exercises where knights rode horses in a tight circle spearing small rings hanging above the circle path; some carousels mimic this exercise with metal rings riders try to grab
New amusement added to carousel

Was a golfers' clubhouse decades ago; now called Oak Ridge
Park has many courts; years ago some were made of clay
Non-electric tracks run through Forest Park for occasional freight trains
Passenger trains like this do not run through the park anymore
